Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) is responsible for rehabilitation of the damaged school cum shelters and construction of new shelters. For easy access to the shelters during calamity, Shelter Connecting Roads are also constructed.

The Shelters are also used as Primary schools. So, it has got multiple functions.

 Major Achievements 

  • Repair and Improvement of Existing School cum Shelters

The improvement works include additional facilities like Water supply, Sanitation, solar power, maternity facilities etc.

These will provide shelter of 422,280 nos. persons of the locality with improved facilities during calamity.

 

  • Construction of New School cum Shelters

The remaining 82 nos. are under construction.

All construction works will be completed by December 2017. When completed, these will provide additional shelter for 528,000 persons.

Additional accommodation of students and modern schooling facilities will be provided under the project.

  • Construction of Access Road to Shelter cum School

During the disasters when shelter to school cum shelters becomes essential, it often becomes very difficult to approach the shelters through muddy slurry roads. To facilitate easy approach, Shelter Connecting Roads will be constructed under the project.
